

Our instuctors are what makes the BOC program truly unique. They are authorities in the energy field, bringing a tremendous amount of real world experience and expertise to the classroom. Over 100 BOC courses are held each year in the Midwest and as the number grows, MEEA is always looking for instructors who are passionate about what they do. Instructors say that teaching BOC is a great opportunity to keep your finger on the pulse of the market while sharing your knowledge with others in the field.
Instructors teach one- or two-day courses in their areas of expertise, using the BOC materials and curriculum provided to cover a wide range of topics including building systems, energy conservation, HVAC systems and controls, facility lighting, environmental health and safety regulations, indoor air quality and facility electrical systems.
Instructors receive competitive rate of compensation and can to teach from one to six classes a year.
Level I training is designed for those individuals with two or more years of experience in building operations and maintenance, but is also an effective overall training course and resource for those new to the industry. Participants attend seven classes (74 hours of instruction, 7.4 CEUs) and demonstrate competence by completing course exams and required projects. Level II training is designed for those individuals who have received Level I certification or who have three or more years of experience working in operations and maintenance of a commercial or institutional facility. Level II certification requires participants to attend four core courses and two supplemental courses (56 hours of training, 5.6 CEUs) and complete class exams and projects. All applications are reviewed and approved by NEEC and only NEEC–approved instructors may teach the BOC program.
