For Prospective Partners

Support our nation’s veterans today to pursue careers in energy-efficient building operations and maintenance and related fields.

Why Partner with BOC to Support Veterans?

Organizations that partner with the BOC Veterans program receive many benefits:

  • Recognition through IL DCEO and MEEA’s BOC partner list, and MEEA’s communication channels such as the Unplugged blog, Minute newsletter, press releases and more.

  • First access to resumes of BOC-certified veterans pursuing careers in building operations and maintenance (O&M) or a related field.

  • Opportunities to mentor or provide internships for veterans, both great ways to work closely with prospective employees.

Program partners that hire BOC certified veterans receive significant benefits:

  • Energy and cost savings – according to independent evaluation research, BOC certified operators of a 200,000 square-foot space can save more than $15,000 in annual energy expenses

  • Employees who possess “leadership and teamwork skills, character, structure and discipline, expertise, effectiveness, and loyalty,” (see the top reasons for hiring veterans in a recent study by the Center for a New American Security)

How Can Partners Support Veterans?

BOC Veterans program partners can choose to support Illinois veterans in any or all of the following ways:

  • Send building operations & maintenance job openings to BOC to be shared with BOC certified veterans

  • Review BOC certified veterans’ resumes

  • Provide a facilities staff member to mentor a veteran

  • Sponsor a veterans’ BOC tuition ($1,400)

  • Provide an internship for a veteran
