Building Operator Certification (BOC) training includes nearly 80 hours of classroom and project work (7.4 CEUs) in building systems operation and maintenance. Each course in the series is completed in a one-day training session, except BOC 103 - HVAC Systems and Controls, a two-day course. To become certified, participants must pass an exam at the end each day of training and complete assigned projects. Unless otherwise noted, training begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends by 5:00 p.m. Building operations and maintenance personnel employed by a commercial or industrial customer receiving electrical service from Westar Energy are eligible to enroll in BOC at a cost of $1,150. Upon BOC certification, Westar Energy customers are eligible to receive a $575 reimbursement toward the $1,150 tuition.
